"Hub City Now with Tyrone Tony Reed Jr." Episode 17

In Episode 17, I spoke with James E. Cherry, the author of three volumes of poetry, a collection of short fiction and two novels. He has an MFA in creative writing from the University of Texas at El Paso and his work has been nominated for a NAACP Image Award, a Lillian Smith Book Award and a Next Generation Indie Book Award.

Cherry, a native Jacksonian, spoke about his love of writing and about his latest novel, "Edge of the Wind", which was recently released by Stephen F. Austin State University Press and is now available. Loosely based on a true incident, the novel explores the importance and power of poetry, delves into mental illness, touches on police brutality, shows the importance of father and son relationships and much, much more.

Cherry will also have a book-signing at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at The ComeUnity Cafe, located at 218 E. Main Street in Jackson, Tennessee, 38301. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (731) 300-4674.
